Anthony Albanese caught in unguarded viral moment by cameraman

Anthony Albanese has been dubbed “Australia’s father” after his “proud” moment was caught on camera during a Lunar New Year celebration in Melbourne on Saturday.

The prime minister was filmed excitedly flaunting his crimson tie as he took part in the annual Chinese New Year festivities in Box Hill, about 14km east of the city centre.

Chinese New Year celebrations officially started on January 22nd and will end on February 1st. 2023 is the year of the rabbit, so the tie, with hundreds of little bunnies, was “perfect” for the occasion, Mr Albanese told cameraman Victor Gray, who shared the footage on Tiktok.

Mr. Gray joked the prime minister looked happier than when he won the election. He said Mr. Albanese displayed “some premium chuffed dad vibes” during the festivities and it’s all thanks to his tie.

At the start of the video, Mr Albanese is seen sitting on stage between two women who are both donning red dresses for the occasion. The Prime Minister took a moment to show his tie to one woman sitting next to him, lifting it up so she could see the details. They both burst out laughing before an exasperated PM turned the other way. He showed the next woman the chosen accessory before giving a grin.

But he wasn’t done with his statement tie, it seems he then invited another man to come and have a look. The man responded with an eager thumbs up, an indication of his approval.

“He’s so happy, look at that face,” Mr Gray said, zooming in on Mr Albanese. “He just wants to show it to everyone”.

Albanese explains his tie choice

Mr Gray took the opportunity to question the Prime Minister about his motives, asking if the fashion choice was deliberate or if he was “just supporting the Rabbitohs”. Mr. Albanese is a proud supporter of the South Sydney Rabbitohs NRL team and is often seen donning his team’s kit.

“No, it was deliberate,” shot back an excited Mr. Albanian. “It’s red with bunnies. Perfect,” he explained as he walked through the crowd, cradling a stuffed rabbit toy.

Australian PM hailed as ‘healthy’

My Grey’s followers praised the Prime Minister for his “wholesome” display of enthusiasm with some calling the nation’s leader “adorable”.

“I have no doubt that he found it and said, ‘Oh my God, this is perfect’ and he just wanted someone to appreciate it too,” one person shared in the comments.

“I just love how human he is,” said another.

A third said they loved seeing people “so happy about things and not afraid to show it”, adding: “we need more of this in the world”.

Meanwhile, a fourth dubbed the prime minister “Australia’s father” and said he was “what we desperately need”.
