Who’s performing and how to get tickets
Lewis Capaldi, the 1975, and Nial Horan are among the first acts confirmed for Radio 1’s Big Weekend (Ian West / PA).
Festival season is just around the corner, with Radio 1’s Big Weekend kicking off the season with a bang.
The festival brings together some of the UK’s biggest artists with a stream of international acts, culminating in a three-day musical extravaganza.
The flagship music event is not one to miss, often creating a high demand for tickets every year.
On January 30, Radio 1’s Greg James revealed some of the first acts to perform at the festival on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show.
Who is performing at Radio 1’s Big Weekend?
Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi is confirmed to perform at the event alongside The 1975, Niall Horan, Raye, Arlo Parks and Anne-Marie.
Speaking about their upcoming performance for Radio 1’s Big Weekend, the first acts shared their excitement to be at one of the UK’s biggest music events.
“I’m really excited to be playing in Dundee for Big Weekend, I never got tickets last time so I’m really excited to be able to come along and enjoy it as well as playing,” said Lewis Capaldi.
The 1975 added: “We’re looking forward to seeing everyone in Dundee for our first outdoor show of the year.”
“I can’t wait to kick off the festival season at Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2023 in Dundee. See you all there,” said Niall Horan.
While Arlo Parks added: “Can’t wait to be at this year’s Big Weekend! What a pleasure to perform for you in Scotland.”
When and where is Radio 1’s Big Weekend?
The three-day festival takes place from 26 to 28 May.
The festival will be held at Camperdown Park in Dundee, Scotland, after the venue was previously canceled in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic.
This year the BBC is working closely with Dundee City Council to host Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2023.
“We’ve been tired of not coming to Dundee because of the pandemic, so it’s hugely exciting to finally deliver on our promise this year. I was on holiday near Dundee in the summer and decided I wanted to move there, so doing Big Weekend nearby is just the first part of my devious plan to get out of London. I’m glad Radio 1 fell for it,” said Radio 1 Breakfast show presenter Greg James.
