Thurso Amateur Swimming Club held its annual club gala awards ceremony at the town’s Royal British Legion club.
Every year in December the club holds its long-awaited swimming gala after a round of heats in November and this is the only event on the calendar where all members of the club compete for the various championship trophies.
Nigel Scott, chairman of the Scottish Amateur Swimming Association and father of Olympic and world champion swimmer Duncan Scott, attended the gala final and enjoyed the performance put on by the swimmers. He agreed to present the younger swimmers with their Novice Width and Novice Length certificates.
For the gala prize-giving, club secretary Neil McDonald presented the swimmers with their medals and trophies.
Club President Robbie Campbell later said: “We have enjoyed an excellent turnout of swimmers this year. They put on a great competition with many close-fought competitions throughout the various events.
“The standard of competition is testament to the many hours of hard work that all swimmers and coaches have put in throughout the year and we look forward to seeing all swimmers push for new heights in the coming year.”
