Autumn out-of-towner rides | Bicycle Network

As we get into the beautiful calm autumn weather, our social ride leaders are increasingly going out of town to enjoy the outdoors by bike. For the first time we’ve also included planned north west ride locations and dates for the rest of the year so you can mark your diary.

Orford Thumbs Lookout Walk – Sunday 2nd April

The 30km Orford Thumbs loop on Sunday 2nd April is a coastal ride until you hit the Wielangta Road and quickly climb 400m to the lookout!

Join ride leader David at 10.15 am. outside the Wattlebanks Coastal Café for the drive south to Rheban Beach for morning tea before climbing inland to the lookout and back down to Orford for a late lunch.

Wielangta is a dirt road and is therefore not suitable for skinny tyres. RSVP in case of cancellation due to bad weather:

Upcoming rides and events

Cycling Network Tasmania accredits social ride leaders and requires anyone interested in leading rides to be accredited. If you would like to be one of our Ride Leaders, please email our Ride Leaders Coordinator with your contact details and what kind of ride you are interested in and we will let you know when the next Ride Leader Skills Development Workshop is scheduled.

COVID-19 Guidelines

Our social ride leaders follow a set of protocols to help make our rides safer:

Meeting points for rides will have plenty of space for people to maintain 1.5 to 2 meters of distance while unloading bikes, listening to the briefing and getting ready to ride. Riders are asked to register online or by phone so no paper is handed out on the day. People are asked not to attend rides if they have a fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue, shortness of breath or runny nose or are in mandatory isolation.
