Anna Blinkova vs Erika Andreeva Head to head

Andreeva leads 2-0. Both of those wins came in 2022 – the most recent being in the Bronx Open, where Blinkova was beaten 4-6, 4-6.

Andreeva looking for some rhythm

18-year-old Erika Andreeva had a dull start to the season. In Lyon, she will try to pick things up and return to her winning ways.

It’s been some time since she’s had a WTA main draw win; her last win in such an event came last July in the Lausanne Open against none other than Blinkova 6-1, 6-2. However, she fell in the next round against Petra Martic.

Since then, the youngster has participated in numerous tournaments on all circuits. Her best results came on the ITF tour in the form of semi-finals in Spain and the Bronx.

In 2023, Andreeva competed in two ITF events but failed to get past the opening rounds – the last time was in Andrezieux-Boutheon last week. In the Aus Open she fell to Sara Bejlek in the final qualifying round.

Here in Lyon, the current #134 started as a qualifier and defeated Viktoriya Tomova and Diane Parry to reach the main round.

Blinkova is ready to impress

Anna Blinkova, current world no. 64, had an eventful start to the year with many positives.

Her highlight is definitely the semi-final sprint in Hobart, where as a qualifier she dispatched Marie Bouzkova, Lucia Bronzetti and Yulia Putintseva in straight sets. It was only her second WTA semi-final in the last 12 months, but something tells us there will be many more to come.

Of course, the 24-year-old is by no means perfect – she has her work cut out for her.

That semi-final in Hobart was followed by a three-set loss to Madison Keys in the Australian Open first round, but thanks to the fact that it was due, she did well to take a set from the American.

Blinkova enjoyed a good time in 2022, reaching three ITF finals and claiming her first WTA title.

Andreeva v Blinkova Prediction and Tip

Blinkova is the odds-on favourite, but having already lost to Andreeva twice, she will be at a psychological disadvantage. At 11/8, Andreeva makes a good underdog bet – especially since the chances of an upset are much higher here.
