More Your art is murder

Australian metal legends Thy Art Is Murder have announced an expansive regional tour, with Justice For The Damned and To The Grave joining them as the three bands collectively bring a wrecking ball to the regions.

The carnage begins in mid-May with extreme metal and deathcore in Gosford, Newcastle, Canberra, Albury, Wollongong, Ipswich, Coolangatta, Caloundra, Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Gladstone, Ballarat, Geelong, Chelsea Heights and Sandy Bay. Unfortunately, To The Grave will not be released on some dates – see below for more details.

Over the weekend, Thy Art released Is Murder Until There Is No Longer, the first release off the 6-song mini-album The Aggression Sessions, due out on April 7th. Pre-order the album here.

The Aggression Sessions is a split for extreme metal lovers, with the record featuring a three-way split with pals Fit For An Autopsy and Malevolence.

Until There Is No Longer is the first taste of new music from Thy Art Is Murder since the 2020 Killing Season. As the press release promises, “it should really whet the appetite for Thy Art’s sixth album, which is set to smash skulls in the months to come “.

A few weeks ago CJ McMahon, lead singer of Thy Art Is Murder, announced that he was after a bigger, better boat and wanted to trade some valuables with fans.

McMahon advertised two items: a Cristiano Ronaldo Kaboom PSA 10 (football card) valued at around A$2,000-$2.5,000.

However, what fueled the comments section on Instagram was Holy War’s Thy Art Is Murder test press, which ranked fourth out of five.

Holy War is Thy Art Is Murder’s third album, released in 2015 via UNFD and Nuclear Blast. The album was produced and mixed by END’s Will Putney.

The record focuses heavily on the themes of child abuse, animal rights, religion, politics and war, and includes a feature by Parkway Drive’s Winston McCall on 2015’s most metallic track, Coffin Dragger. Holy War peaked at number 7 in Australia and number 3 on Billboard’s Top Hard Rock Albums.

When we released Holy War we said it was an album “so heavy your ears will pop like cane toads under an 18 wheel”.

Would you like to hear music so heavy that your ears will burst in May and June? Check out the Thy Art Is Murder tour dates below. Tickets are available this Friday, March 31 at 9am AEDT on the band’s website. Interested in advance tickets? You can find them here tomorrow at 9am AEDT.
