The property, which recently came on the market, featured in the 2009 Australian film Closed For Winter – based on the novel of the same name by Adelaide author Georgia Blain – and was used as the family home of Torn singer Natalie Imbruglia in her feature film debut.
Several areas of the house feature in the movie, including its front, formal living room, master bedroom, kitchen and double garage.

Steven Nankervis, who is selling his late father’s property, said the reasons behind the house’s choices were as much practical as they were aesthetic.
“The stately home was chosen as its 3m high decorated ceilings could accommodate the camera and lighting needs for the shoot,” said Mr Nankervis.

“It was also in quiet cul-de-sac which meant the road could be closed to accommodate the film crew equipment trucks.”
The film tells the story of Elise, a young woman haunted by the disappearance of her childhood sister and was screened at the Adelaide Film Festival.

“Dad was delighted that his home had been chosen to feature in this film and thoroughly enjoyed attending the premiere in Adelaide as an invited special guest,” Mr Nankervis said.
“Someone else will buy this house and that will be the end of this chapter for us, but this film will serve as a precious memory of Dad’s, and our, time in the house and it’s something we can dress up and enjoy when we too “feel nostalgic.”

The garage also got a starring role, playing host to a late-night game of table tennis in a still from the movie Closed For Winter.
A former Neighbors star turned ARIA-winning singer, Imbruglia also appeared opposite Rowan Atkinson in the 2003 spy spoof Johnny English, appeared as a judge on Australia’s X Factor and last year the UK version of The Masked Singer won.
The house sits on a plot of 788 sqm and has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a double garage.
It is being auctioned on Saturday 1 April by Rosemary Auricchio and Nick Carpinelli of LJ Hooker West Lakes/Henley Beach.
